South from Trooper is not the quickest, but is more entertaining.
A41 to Whitchurch, B5476 to Wem, West on B4397 thro' Loppington, cross the A528, continue on B4397 thro' Baschurch and Ruyton -XI- Towns to A5.
Turn right, approx 5 miles and left to Pentre & Melverley, pub is half way between the two villages

Alternative A483 south, past Oswestry to A5 then as above.


Total distance approx. 115 miles

Garden edges onto the River Severn. Camping is possible. Several rooms and a tiny bar
